Childcare & Preschools
As is true in most places, finding an open child care spot in many Vermont communities can take some time and research. If you are planning a move to Vermont and you have young children, it is wise to start your search as soon as possible.
The state of Vermont has a search tool that can be a valuable resource: the Bright Futures Information System. There you can search for what is available in your area specific to your child’s age and the program’s quality rating. The Bright Futures Information system also includes after-school programs if you are looking for care for your school-aged children.
Vermont uses the STARS quality rating system for all registered care providers. A designation of 4 or 5 stars is considered high quality. Some in-home providers do not participate in this program but may still be high quality, so it’s important to do your research!
